Update
I'm only updating to say that I am still alive. I have done quite a bit in the past few weeks. I've seen people that I haven't seen in years, attended the inauguration and turned over a new leaf. I gotta run though. I'll update when I get the inaugural pics (which probably look like all the other ones on the internet)

Maybe
some things never change.
I thought that I was done with something, but as soon as I made the declaration of its end, it showed itself.
I suppose I've just been too busy and distracted to notice that it hasn't gone anywhere. It is just waiting for me to slow down and pay it some attention.
Some things may never change, but they will certainly have to wait

Its 2009 and
I still hate the po'lice
I am so glad they got video on this shooting, but I already know it ain't gonna make a damn bit of difference. They have already started criminalizing this man. First reports by police stated that they were actively breaking up a brawl and he was shot. These reports contradicted (heavily) eyewitness statements that this man was in handcuffs and subdued when he was shot.
When the video came out, the shooting became a "mistake" on the part of the police.
Now that the video is out, it has suddenly become very relevant to drudge up this man's criminal past...as if that has a damned thing to do with what Johannes did to him. And they actually tried to supress evidence in this incident
I hope they get every dime they sued for. I am STILL sick of the police shooting black men dead and getting away with it.
BTW, this is hot assed news because Oscar died. Luckily Robbie Tolan is still breathing, but he got shot by the PO'lice too. I can't stand the words "unfortunate incident". If civilians could get by saying those two words, no one would be accountable for anything. I'm so glad he has a baseball player daddy.

Authorities said they were still investigating whether the gun was fired on purpose or accidentally.
"It's clear that it was a volatile situation with young men who were arguing and in fact had continued to argue even in the presence of multiple police officers," Allison said.
Five officers had gathered on the platform as the train arrived from San Francisco following reports that two groups of men were fighting on the train near the West Oakland station two stops earlier, officials said.
The men continued to yell at each other after the Dublin/Pleasanton-bound train stopped, and police were in the process of separating the men when the bullet struck Grant, Allison said.
No one involved in the alleged fighting was arrested following the shooting, although two men were detained for questioning and later released. Police shut down the Fruitvale station until about 2:50 a.m. to collect physical evidence after the incident.

Recordings of the shooting by witnesses have surfaced and Burris said BART had confiscated numerous cell phone images from others he believes contain additional footage.

Authority figures and respect
When I was a child, I was taught to respect my elders. Being the obedient child that I was, I learned to do this to a fault.
Now, as an adult, I realize how damaging respecting authority figures can be when respect = fear. I need to do better. I need to stop being afraid all the time. I really do.
